Allegretto Wave excimer laser
Aktis ophthalmological center (eye laser center) is equipped with Wavelight Allegretto excimer laser eye-Q 400Hz, one of the most technologically advanced excimer laser systems worldwide, used for refractive procedures. This latest generation ophthalmic equipment is one of the fastest excimer lasers (laser pulse frequency of 400Hz – 2 secs / diopter for 6.50 mm optical zone). Cornea normalization is based on Wave Perfect Pulse technology (ensures that each laser pulse is completely controlled from its production until the contact with cornea – each extremely small laser pulse sculpt corneal surface with maximum flying spot technology precision so as to have perfect surface quality – Gaussian profile).
Basically, excimer laser reshapes the cornea by taking into account a model eye with hyper-vision (20/20 super vision). With the help of peripheral systems (such as Wavelight Pentacam Oculyzer, available at Aktis ophthalmological center), the excimer laser supports fully-customized treatments based on topographic data (T-CAT, topo-guided ablations, topographic treatments) and wavefront analysis (waveftont-guided analysis treatments) for excellent night vision and less spherical aberrations. Wavelight Allegretto also includes a special therapeutic model for corneal asphericity adjustment (F-CAT custom Q corneal asphericity method).
Furthermore, Wavelight Allegretto excimer laser eye-Q 400Hz contains also an impressive eye tracking system, also known as eye-tracker, which is in position to follow the micro-movements of the eye, during laser ablation for maximum precision refractive correction. In fact, eye-tracker uses three infrared light sources that clearly distinguish the contrast between the pupil and the iris. Thus, even if a refractive patient moves his / her eye or head during the laser ablation, refractive correction and results are not affected (time reaction less than 6 ms).
It is worth mentioning that this specific excimer laser system has minimal thermal effects due to stable energy audit, something that makes the laser beam friendly with the cornea, accelerating healing (every fifth laser pulse overlaps with the previous one, so an ablated point has sufficient time to ‘calm’ between laser shots). Wavelight Allegretto excimer laser, with the help of special software (F-CAT) performs also presbyopic treatments, using special nomograms based on the corneal asphericity (Q adjustment). It is worth mentioning that optical zone step alteration is 0.10mm (ddl), while the final (modified) refraction step is the impressive 0.01D, which offers flexible treatment planning.
