It usually appears in the inner (nasal) corner of the eye and obstructs eyesight. Pterygium\u2019s real cause is not been ascertained, however it frequently occurs in individuals who are exposed to sunlight (ultraviolet radiation), drought and dust for many hours. The most important symptoms are: &#8216;foreigner\u2019 appearance, optical axis overlapping, corneal deformation \/ irregularities and astigmatic occurrence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/aktis.com.cy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/pterygium_aktis1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"pterygium_aktis1\" alt=\"\u03a0\u03c4\u03b5\u03c1\u03cd\u03b3\u03b9\u03bf \u03ba\u03b1\u03b9 \u03b1\u03bd\u03c4\u03b9\u03bc\u03b5\u03c4\u03ce\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03b7\" src=\"https:\/\/aktis.com.cy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/pterygium_aktis1.jpg\" width=\"322\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/aktis.com.cy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/pterygium_aktis2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"pterygium_aktis2\" alt=\"\u03a0\u03c4\u03b5\u03c1\u03cd\u03b3\u03b9\u03bf \u03ba\u03b1\u03b9 \u03b1\u03bd\u03c4\u03b9\u03bc\u03b5\u03c4\u03ce\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03b7\" src=\"https:\/\/aktis.com.cy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/pterygium_aktis2.jpg\" width=\"322\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Treatment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Using eye drops (artificial tears) and local ointments is a solution for facing pterygium inflammation. However, pterygium should be removed via surgical procedure in case it is considered quite big, ugly and affects vision. Sometimes, even after a surgical removal, there are possibilities for pterygium to recur, especially in young people.
